Come join us for a guided listening session on Wednesday nights while we celebrate epic symphonic, operatic and instrumental composition genius. This will be a classical music review, exploring the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern genres. We’ll look at some compositional techniques, genre qualities and composer scandals!
Our listening sessions will be led with gentle and minimal interruption. It will be a sampling of music, focusing primarily on the heavies like Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Wagner and Stravinski. We’ll also breeze through The Four Seasons, as well as The Rite of Spring. Each lesson will be different in that they are either musically-focused regarding the methods or techniques used (like John Williams) or social significance (like The Rite of Spring).
Hope to geek out and listen to some fantastic compositions and composers with you through the middle of summer!
