Mike is an experienced automation and operations expert in the E&S industry. As CIO for three of the largest E&S platforms in the U.S., Mike’s visionary leadership has yielded significant results for his employers and the broader non-admitted marketplace. Mike’s industry contributions include 15 years of membership and management of the AAMGA/WSIA Automation Committee for which he was presented with the Earl S. Dillard award in appreciation of his significant ongoing involvement and impact. Mike founded the E&S Joint Working Group, a collaboration between AAMGA, NAPSLO, Lloyd’s, ACT, and ACORD to further automation and interconnectivity within the E&S industry and which led to the first ACORD API standards for E&S carrier rating and forms distribution along with the first complete round-trip electronic policy transaction proof-of-concept. Mike has served on many carrier advisory boards including Nationwide E&S, XL Catlin, Markel’s Producer Council, and he currently sits on Nautilus’ Technology Advisory Committee. A highly skilled team-builder, Mike helped CRC grow from a four location, $225M wholesaler to over $3B in gross written premium, over 50 locations, significant M&A integrations, and the rollout of their entire Binding Authority strategy through mergers with Southern Cross and Tapco. At RPS, Mike oversaw the consolidation of more than 28 management systems plus over 40 acquisitions allowing the centralization of business process outsourcing and a newly created CRM and data analysis platform while co-leading the creation and deployment of what is now the most successful Digital platform in the E&S industry. In less than a year at RT Specialty, Mike has been responsible for bringing in over $20M in revenue from a key acquisition partner along with a new technology platform that will serve as the basis for RT’s Target Operating Model inclusive of end-to-end business process workflows, support, and future scalability.
Mark Heslop has over ten years of experience in the FinTech and InsurTech industries and a focus on real-time data analytics that drive business decisions. Throughout his career, Heslop has held high-level positions at Risk Management Solutions, Nomis Solutions, and Amazon Web Services where he has helped develop integrated customer-centric strategies across cloud-hosted platforms.
Rob has overall responsibility for ClarionDoor’s business development and ongoing operations. In his role, Rob is committed to delivering complete client satisfaction while continuing to build ClarionDoor’s new business pipeline. Rob has an extensive background managing numerous enterprise software policy administration implementations, including clients such as AIG, Electric, and Farmers. While working at LexisNexis, Rob held multiple leadership responsibilities for the Personal Lines insurance software solutions engineering and business teams, helping to grow the team from 5 to over 60 members between 2006 and 2010. Prior to LexisNexis, Rob was an original employee of Steel Card team which sold to Insurity / LexisNexis in 2006. While at Steel Card, Rob oversaw development and production operations for AAA of California’s online quoting and agency point of sales implementations. Rob has a BS in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University.
Pat joined ClarionDoor in 2013 as Chief Sales Officer with overall responsibility for sales and marketing. Prior to ClarionDoor, Pat spent ten years at Vertafore as Vice President of Sales with responsibility for software sales in both the MGA and excess and surplus carrier market. Pat has over twenty-five years of sales experience focused specifically on insurance software with the following companies: CAIR Systems (CA), AMS Services (MA), and Custom Insurance Solutions (TX).
Randy is the Chief Technology Officer of JenCap Holdings LLC. Jencap is the premier distribution platform for independent insurance professionals. JenCap specializes in binding authority, wholesale brokerage and program management business. JenCap’s mission is to help independent insurance professionals expand and thrive together within one collective. Prior to JenCap, Randy held the roles of Chief Information & Innovation Officer, Business Intelligence Head, and President of Software-as-a-Service at York Risk Services, a national risk services firm. Randy’s background began as a software developer in the insurance sector. He left the insurance industry to run an education startup tutoring kids under the No Child Left Behind legislation and then moved into the consumer web and publishing world, leading the engineering and product teams at WebMD.com. He then returned to insurance to join York Risk Services Group where he helped grow the firm organically as CIO, with 8%+ growth annually, and through acquisition, 20+ companies in 8-years. This mix of industry and experience uniquely positions Randy to transform the insurance space and drive growth. With customers in all areas of the risk and insurance value chain, Randy has delivered solutions and services to customers and employees fostering success at every turn.
Andy Buckley served as Financial Advisor at a major bank for 12 years, part of group managing over 400m in personal assets. This provided perfect background material for his fictional role as , David Wallace, CFO of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, playing opposite Steve Carrell on NBC's hit comedy The Office.
Joe is the CTO of Branch, which provides bundled home and auto insurance, powered by community. Previously, Joe founded BuildFax (acquired by Verisk), Spaceful (acquired by Xceligent), BluePrince (acquired by Harris Computer), and EphPod (acquired by Wind Solutions). Joe graduated with degrees in English and Mathematics from Williams College and has a law degree from Yale Law School.
Michael DeGusta is CEO of ClarionDoor, the leading cloud digital distribution platform for insurance. A successful entrepreneur and consistent innovator in the insurance software industry, Michael co-founded web-based policy administration pioneer Steel Card (sold to Insurity in 2006). In 1999, Michael co-founded and was Chief Technology Officer of eCoverage, a SoftBank/RRE/E*TRADE-funded startup that was the nation’s first online auto insurance carrier. A Stanford alumnus, Michael began his career as web production lead at Apple from 1996 to 1998.
Spiro Skias has served the insurance industry since 2006. Prior to joining ClarionDoor in 2018, Skias spent 10 years as the Ratabase Product Director at CGI, and 2 years as an IT Project Manager at Erie Insurance Group. His overall career extends well beyond the realm of insurance, where he also worked as a R&D contractor for NASA and Department of Defense.
