Cisco Networking Academy and RENATA, come together to offer the academic community of RENATA the opportunity to develop skills in the use of information and communication technologies.
“After a year of conversations with RENATA (National Academic Network for Advanced Technology), we achieved this great alliance between Net Acad and the network, this is a great step for Cisco and the RED since we will contribute to the development of skills in the use of information and communication technologies. The academic offer includes courses on Get Connected, Introduction to Cybersecurity, Internet of All Things and Entrepreneurship. The offer, available to the academic community of the institutions affiliated to RENATA, is virtual and free.
“In RENATA we saw a wonderful opportunity to reach all its affiliated institutions with the virtual curriculum that the program has and in this way, help reduce the gap that currently exists at a global level between the excessive demand and the limited supply of professionals trained in ICT ”, expressed Carolina Cardona, Program Manager Cisco Networking Academy Program for Colombia.
Through the Cisco Academies Program, around 20,000 students are trained per year in Colombia. “We hope that, with the scope and coverage that RENATA has, the impact will be even greater and, through NetAcad's curricular offer, it will be possible to expand the coverage area in the country, offer more training opportunities for work and provide more and better tools that broaden the labor and professional spectrum of Colombians, "he said.
For Miguel Amórtegui, Academic Manager of RENATA, “we continue to strengthen our training commitment through our Escuela Superior de Redes Colombia (ESRC). We seek to positively impact the daily work of academics and students through free virtual training in IT management for our affiliates. Through the ESRC, RENATA's IT training line, we wanted to facilitate access to high-level certifications ”.
The idea for the future is to increase the CISCO training offer at the best costs. "Those who wish to become certified in Cisco Certified Network Associate CCNA exam, Cisco Certified Network Professional CCN exam, Cisco Certified Design Professional CCDP exam, will be able to do so through this alliance at a lower price," he said.

Cisco Networking Academy is an academic program with a trajectory of more than 15 years at a global level that helps people develop skills in the use of information technologies in communications. It is the first time that the program has made an alliance with an institution like RENATA, which will make the totally virtual academic offer available to those interested.
The ESRC is the RENATA area that brings together all the education and training activities on STI issues and advanced technology networks for the actors of the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation (SNCTI). The ESRC has different lines of training in governance, services, security, IPv6, digital repositories, advanced computing, IPv6, OJS, telemedicine and the use of RENATA Advanced Technology Services.
