This is an in-house company training session
Course length: 1 day
Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (to be confirmed)

At the end of training the participant should be able to:
· Safely handle and store chemicals in the workplace
· Recognize various means of identification, labeling and classification of chemicals
· Describe some of the adverse health effects that chemicals may have
· Recall the possible routes of entry of chemicals
· Source and interpret information regarding the safe use, storage and handling of chemicals as well as possible adverse health effects (e.g. Safety Data Sheets, International Safety Cards)
· Use, care and select appropriate personal protective equipment based on chemicals used and anticipated exposure levels
1. Introduction to chemical safety
2. Chemical classification, identification and labeling
3. Basic Toxicology (routes of entry, toxic effects etc.)
4. Safety Data Sheets and other forms of hazard communication
5. Chemical Storage
6. Chemical Handling
7. PPE Selection
WorkSafe Global Certificate of Participation
Course instruction will include Audio-visual and PowerPoint presentations, discussions and break-out activities.
Participants are required to be fully involved in class discussion, workshop activities and in any demonstrations as required.
