Workshops/Ateliers

Time to Get Off Your Assets!

With all levels of government focused on the need for more affordable housing, there are some great opportunities for housing co-ops to leverage thier assets and seize opportunities to build new co-op homes. Come hear from CAHDCO, a local affordable housing developer, for inspiration and motivation to get off your assets!

Co-op Housing & Aboriginal Communities: Inclusion & Reconciliation

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada released a report in 2015 on the history and impact of Canada's policy of cultural genocide of Aboriginal people. This session will explore what the co-op movement can do to respond in a positive way to Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Commission's report. We'll touch on the impacts of colonialism and Residential Schools and how they influence housing options for Aboriginal people. We'll also identify actions we can take to support reconciliation through the development of respectful and healthy relationships within housing co-ops.

Building a Member Orientation Toolkit

New members need key information to make good decisions and take part in the democratic and social life of the co-op. There are different ways to get new members settled and engaged, and we can share some tools to help. You will leave this workshop with sample materials to help you build a custom kit to welcome and orient your co-op's new members.

What can co-ops do to prepare for the provincial and municipal elections in 2018? What are the key affordable housing issues for members to think about? How should you engage your local election candidates? Get answers to these questions and more during this exciting elections plenary - featuring CHF Canada's Government Relations Program Manager, Douglas Wong.

Tradeshow/ Salon Commercial

The Trade Show is your opportunity to network with our wonderful Cost Cutters and with exciting local vendors. Find out about products and services available to your co-op. Get some great deals for your co-op, and enter to win door prizes!
