School Social Workers: Developing Crisis Teams for High Risk Students
School Social Workers design Crisis Teams to assist in the identification, service and treatment for high risk students. Successful Crisis Teams include school nurses, school psychologists, guidance counselors and student assistance coordinators who work within the clinical framework outlined by school social workers. Using research models, protocols and design, the social worker can develop a Crisis Team that is ethically sound and clinically effective.

Vicki Scheetz, PhD, ACSW is a school social worker in the Ocean City (NJ) Public Schools. For nearly 30 years, she has worked with special education students at every level of development. An advocate for special education students, Vicki has been involved in program development from preschool disabled through post 21 services. She enjoys working with teaching staff, administrators and families and is a strong voice for students in educational settings. Vicki earned an MSW from Rutgers University and a PhD from the Ohio State University. In addition to her public school service, Vicki earned a Master degree in Theological Studies from Palmer Theological Seminary and is involved with her church and the community.
Elisabeth Mamourian Corona is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a NJ Certified School Social Worker. She currently is the District Crisis Coordinator for Millville Public Schools. Elisabeth has previously worked in special education, and has a background in acute mental health programs for children and adolescents where she has provided therapy and served as a program manager. She received her BSW from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and her MSS from Bryn Mawr College.
