This course offers a more advanced insight into system capabilities:

  • Principles of cancelling records
  • Diagnosing error messages
  • License plate readers
  • Secure Document Delivery System
  • Message switching
  • WIN (Warrant Identification Notification)

 

Prerequisites: CCIC Level I: Basic, or a good working knowledge of CCIC/NCIC Fundamentals.

Trainer: Sean Edwards

Course materials:  Materials will be posted to CJIS Portal closer to when the class is held, and all enrolled students will be notified. 

Students will attend a 4-hour class on these topics, after which they will be directed to take a 10-question exam to complete within two weeks. After the successful completion of the exam, the student will be issued a certificate of proficiency in CCIC Level II: Intermediate.

Trainer Bio:

Sean Edwards was born in New York City, but raised in Syracuse, NY. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees in Japanese from the State University of New York at Albany and CU Boulder, respectively. In 2005, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for four years. He was stationed at Buckley Air Force Base and served a seven month deployment to Afghanistan.

He joined the CBI in 2013 as a member of the InstaCheck Unit where he performed background checks for firearm transactions, then two years later, transferred to the Crime Information Management Unit (CIMU) to work as a CCIC coordinator and trainer. Since joining CIMU, he has used his knowledge and experience to conduct training for law enforcement personnel throughout the state on a variety of criminal justice information systems.

In his spare time he likes to hike, watch movies, work out, and study Japanese.
