Revising curricula to meet competency-driven standards requires analyzing objectives, assessments, and outcomes in unfamiliar ways.  While related disciples have a distinct set of competencies for some time, the framework is relatively newer for many educators in Health Information Management (HIM) and Health Informatics (HI).  Moreover, unlike many of these other competency-driven disciplines, HIM and HI do not have well-developed literature in the psychometric evaluation and validity testing of assessment methods.  The goal of this workshop is to articulate the relationship between disciplinary competencies and their assessment, and to assist faculty in their understanding and application of assessment methods for curriculum building.  To assist faculty in their understanding and application of validated assessment methods for curriculum building, this workshop will consider tools synthesized from concepts of Blooms Taxonomy and Miller’s Pyramid of Assessment.
