Join us for drinks and the launch of 'By Flaggy Creek' a duo exhibition by two stunning Newcastle based landscape artists; Elizabeth Mead and Lynnette Passeri. Both artists bring you a body of work that responds to the same surroundings with unique different impressions and striking artistic methods.
This exhibition is sponsored by Broken wood wines and bookings are essential. We are a COVID safe venue. This show runs until Sunday 12th of September.
From the artists:
This series of lithographs and paintings was done in response to the natural beauty of the Glenrock State Conservation Area, specifically where Flaggy Creek abuts the Fernleigh walking track at Highfields. The conservation area can be found south of Newcastle city centre and is very popular for bush walking and bike riding.
In March 2021, following a considerable amount of rain which swelled the creek, the area was alive with colour, flora such as bright green moss and gum, birds, wildlife, deep dappled shadows and filigree light. Along with the mesmerising sound of running water, this natural beauty kept pulling us back, whenever we could find the time to scribble, sketch, photograph, explore and just be. Following these sessions of working en plein air, we would each return to our respective studios to tackle the job of making explicit our individual responses to what we had seen and how we had felt.
During this difficult year, the project has been not only health-giving and particularly soothing to the spirit we hope the final works can do the same for the viewer. '
