Building Blocks of Kalamazoo is in the business of building community among neighbors in the central city neighborhoods of Kalamazoo.  We invite YOU to join us in supporting our mission by attending the Building Blocks BLOCK Party 2016 hosted by Building Blocks in partnership with PNC Bank and Old Dog Tavern at Old Dog Tavern!

The Building Blocks BLOCK Party 2016 will feature music by Joe Wang and the Test Pilots, food and drink from Old Dog Tavern, door prizes, a silent auction and, as the main event, A LEGO BUILDING CONTEST!

Tickets are available for General Admission.  Details below.  Join the Lego Building Contest for an additional $5!

LEGO BUILDING CONTEST DETAILS

The Lego Building contest is a contest which teams or individuals must build according to a theme provided to them at the event. All contestants will have a set of guidelines to follow.  

The contest offers two divisions - Build-at-EVENT and Build-at-HOME. First place winners of each division will win a grand prize.  All contestants will receive a small gift for participating in the competition.

The Lego Contest Build-at-EVENT:

  • Must enter as a team of at least 3 members (no more than 5 members to a team please) 
  • Teams have 30 minutes to build according to the theme and rules provided at the event
  • All teams are provided the materials (Legos and more) to build according to the theme
  • All teams will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges according to criteria provided to the teams at the start of the event

The Lego Contest Build-at-HOME:

  • Must register as an individual only but are allowed to have assistance from others 
  • Must use your personal legos and materials
  • Must build according to the theme and rules provided at time of registration (will be emailed)
  • All contestants must bring their finished product to the event by 5:30p.  Any late contestants will be disqualified.
  • All finished products will be judged by attendees of the event by popular vote
