IStructE Regional Group Committee is inviting you to an online webinar by Michael J. Lawrence, Founder of Bloqwork, on the topic "Building and the Blockchain – Why use blockchain technology for construction?”.
Construction projects have a complex data and information flow with multiple stakeholders and a notoriously large number of small entities combined with larger contractors, owners, banks, municipalities etc. This results in a distributed decentralized flow of data and information. Currently however project-based communication solutions are centralized and do not integrate all stakeholders since they are aimed at the main players (Main Contractors and/or Clients). Blockchain technology presents an opportunity to do things differently with a solution which provides real time, transparent trusted data which is immutable. This provides several benefits in terms of sustainability, dispute avoidance/resolution and supply chain management. If however all project stakeholders are involved the real benefit comes through the transfer of value between stakeholders, thus allowing payments and management for example of bonds and guarantees.
