Breakfast Session – The Evolution of The Canadian Capacity Guide

The Canadian Capacity Guide (CCG, 3^rd ed.) is one of the most comprehensive and longest running projects undertaken by CITE. It is endorsed by the Transportation Association of Canada as a national reference on traffic engineering.  As featured in Transportation Talk (Winter 2017-2018), over the past year the CITE Traffic Engineering Subcommitteehas been engaging in outreach to promote awareness and understanding of the CCG. Among the most exciting recent announcements is that PTV Group has added the CCG as an analysis option in the latest PTV Vistro 6 Traffic Analysis Software, alongside other alternative methodologies like the Highway Capacity Manual.  This inclusion will help support the use of the CCG by providing a modern and functional platform to implement the methodology.

Speakers: Margaret Briegmann, P.Eng. and Ryan Sankar, P.Eng. will discuss how the methodology has evolved over the years along with some of their experiences and highlights of its recent inclusion in PTV Vistro.  There will also be a roundtable discussion on the future of the CCG, including potential short and medium-term updates to the guide.  Ryan has 12 years of experience in public and private sector transportation planning.  Margaret has 17 years of experience in private sector transportation planning, and she has been involved with the CITE Traffic Engineering Subcommittee for 10 years.
