Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of challenging symptoms. Brainspotting is a simultaneous form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with BioLateral sound, which is deep, direct, powerful yet focused and containing.

Through lecture, live demonstration and small group practice participants will learn to do the following:

•Review the components of Brainspotting

•Utilize the techniques of “One Eyed BSP”, “Resource Eye Position” and “Z axis”

•Define how Brainspotting can be applied to Trauma, Dissociation, Sports psychology, Somatic conditions

•Demonstrate the theories and practices of Brainspotting

Turning Point

Gunnar Ebbesson, LPCS MAC CDCS Gunnar is the Chief Executive Officer and cofounder of Turning Point Counseling Services in Fairbanks. He holds a Masters Degree in Community Psychology, received from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Alaska and a Nationally Certified Master Addiction Counselor. He is an international trainer for Brainspotting and is currently training clinicians all over the state in this trauma intervention. Prior to his current work, Gunnar has worked in the public sector as an inpatient Substance Abuse Counselor, Child and Family Therapist, and Program Director for a research project on a youth alcohol and suicide prevention in western Alaska . His passion is being a mental health clinician working with clients experiencing addiction and trauma. He worked to develop and co-chaired the Alaska Opioid Policy Task Force and was board member of the Governor’s Advisory Board for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse from 2012-2019 and led a workgroup to develop the Statewide Opioid Strategic Plan. He is an active member of the community effort in Fairbanks to battle the opioid epidemic. Most importantly, he is father to four wonderful children, grandpa and husband to Rachelle.
