Before joining the World Childhood Foundation, Epps has been a non-profit leader in the anti-trafficking and street affected, vulnerable youth population, both domestically and internationally.
Epps is the former Associate Director of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Morris and Sussex Counties, where she implemented and managed community outreach and the Fostering Futures program that provided life skills, HIV and STDI screenings for teens in foster care that will age out of the child welfare system. Prior to CASA, Epps led the U.S. office of anti-trafficking organization Apne Aap. She was charged with expanding Apne Aap's community programs to save the lives of human trafficking minority females throughout India. She led workshops, implemented anti-trafficking trainings and forged partnerships with public and private organizations, such as UNICEF, the UN and Morgan Stanley. At Safe Horizon, the largest victim services organization in New York, Epps created, implemented and managed Team Horizon, the first grassroots initiative of Safe Horizon. She served as the primary relationship manager for community-based target accounts and constituents, responsible for leveraging those relationships to maximize engagement through major gifts, corporate initiatives, partnerships and community relations.
Epps is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and earned her B.A. in Political Science and International Relations. She received her MBA in Management and Marketing from the University of Georgia, Terry School of Business. She studied International Law, Economics and Organization at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. She is pursuing her MSW at Rutgers University School of Social Work.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New Jersey, Kia is wholly focused on helping others better understand and resolve the challenges they face. Kia offers support and guidance to individuals and families, specializing in women’s issues, survivors of domestic violence, and helping to build self-esteem. In addition, she is experienced in helping with managing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and anger. Kia holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Africana Studies with a minor in Psychology as well as a Master of Social Work Degree, both from Rutgers the State University of New Jersey.
Kia also holds certificates in Violence Against Women and Children, Clinical Supervision, and School Social Work. Kia works as a School Social Worker and owns a private practice in North Brunswick called Journey To Peace, LLC.
Sharea is a licensed clinical social worker with years of success in helping clients recover from anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings where she received specialized training in the following therapeutic practices: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Theory, Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
For the past five years, Sharea has worked in a practice setting catering to mostly (but not exclusively) Black women, couples and adolescents. Sharea is also a highly skilled Small and Non-Profit Business consultant. Through her skill building small businesses, she has a 100% success rate in helping individual’s realize their dream of starting or expanding their business.
Sharea’s work is delivered through individual sessions, family/couples session, group therapy and workshops focused on helping people navigate through wellness, identity, life transitions and complicated situations. Her empowerment approach focuses on helping people identify and bring out their distinctive strengths while overcoming barriers to happiness and success. Her goal is to help client's create a quality life filled with purpose and self-love. Sharea encourages clients to embrace the concept that our wellness and happiness lies within our control.
Sharea received a BA degree in Sociology from Rider University and a Master’s of Social Work with a concentration of mental health, health and aging from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Sharea is also currently an adjunct professor at Rutgers in their graduate level social work department where she teaches: Program Development and Strategic Planning, Direct Clinical Practice with Adolescents/Children, and Diversity and Oppression.
