Bible Records Project

Emily Geiger is helping preserve information for future generations by photographing family bible records! To be a part of history and preserve this information for future generations, please bring any old family bibles to this event!

If your bible has family information recorded in the frontpiece - names, locations, births, deaths, marriages and so on - we would love to take pictures of this information for posterity! It's so useful for genealogical and historical research!

WHO

The Emily Geiger Chapter NSDAR, your local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. We are a service-based lineage organization dedicated to God, home, and country. We serve our community, preserve history, support education, and honor and support those who serve our community and our nation.

The Bluffton Historical Preservation Society is dedicated to those who love history, particularly Bluffton history. One goal is to discover, collect, and preserve documents that illustrate local history for future study.

WHAT

A special project to take digital photographs of family bibles with lineage or genealogical information. We will have an archive quality book cradle available. Volunteers will use cotton gloves during handling. All due care will be taken to be respectful and careful with these valuable and treasured antiques.

WHEN

April 25th and 30th from 12:30p.m. until 5:30p.m.; each photography and information gathering session takes about 15 minutes.

WHERE

The Bluffton Public Library at 120 Palmetto Way in downtown Bluffton.

WHY

This information, the names, dates, and other information for people who are no longer living, is useful to those who do genealogical and historical research. Volunteers transcribe the information and send it to the DAR Library. This information becomes publicly available on a non-profit basis for those who wish to do lineage and genealogical research. BPHS will keep a separate record for local historical purposes. These documents and the transcribed records may be copyrighted by the respective organizations.
