You may only register for ONE set of orientation sessions.  If you register more than once, one registration will be cancelled.  Once registered, you may not reschedule your orientation date(s).

The registration/orientation process has changed effective July 1, 2019.  This is due to a change in the eligibility testing (TABE) requirements to enter our program(s).  All interested individuals will need to attend two (2) orientation sessions in order to enroll at DCDAL.  Please be prepared to attend each session for approximately 2.5-3.0 hours.

**Important:  You are required to register for a set of two (2) dates for orientation that will occur one week apart.  You are required to attend both sessions to be eligible for enrollment- no exceptions.

Please see the session agendas below:

Orientation Session (Day One)

*Completion of orientation paperwork in student folder

*Completion of TABE locator test

     *Completion of TABE math tests

Orientation Session (Day Two)*

     *Completion of TABE reading tests

     *Completion of writing sample

     *1:1 orientation meeting

*There will be “downtime” while waiting for the reading scores to process.  This is a good time to take a 10 minute break.

You must bring a photo ID and if you are interested in the James H. Groves High School diploma program, we encourage you to bring official copies of your high school transcripts.  We suggest that you arrive 10 minutes prior to the session start time.  *If you arrive late to the session, you may be turned away and will be directed to register for a new orientation session.

*You must be either a Delaware resident or be employed in Delaware to qualify.

*You must be at least 16 years of age to qualify.

*Students who qualify for the James H. Groves High School diploma program are expected to pay the $20.00 material fee at orientation. Payment can be made by cash or credit card.

Students under the age of 18:

All potential students under the age of 18 must be officially withdrawn from high school and must provide the following documentation at orientation to be eligible for enrollment at DCDAL:

*Official transcript from last school attended

*Official withdrawal form from last school attended- This form must be signed by the school and by the   parent/guardian

*Letter of recommendation- This letter must be from a staff and/or faculty member at the last school attended and must recommend the potential student for classes at DCDAL

*No potential students under the age of 18 will be permitted to enroll in any program at DCDAL until all of the above criteria are met.

In 1997, the Delaware Center for Distance Adult Learning, Inc. (DCDAL) was founded to create an opportunity for Delaware adults without a high school credential to earn a James H. Groves High School diploma online. Up until that point, James H. Groves High School was only offered at on-site programs housed in seven different locations throughout Delaware. In 2004, DCDAL expanded to offer online GED preparation. To date, more than 1,000 Delaware adults have earned a high school diploma or GED through DCDAL. Our mission is to provide a personalized program with quality instruction and support to enable adult learners to become more effective employees, family members, and community participants.
