Basic Incident Command training introduces the participants to the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training.  This course describes the history, features, principles, and organizational structure of ICS.  It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).  Participants who complete this training will have basic knowledge and skills to successfully manage emergencies using the ICS.

  • Prerequisite: IS-700 National Incident Management System; An Introduction
  • Who should attend: People who have little or no experience in emergency management.
  • Duration:  4 hours (can be broken into two 2-hour sessions)
  • Maximum number of attendees per session: 50
