Cost: $85.00. A $25.00 deposit reserves your seat in the class. Deposits are non-refundable, but may be applied to another class if the student is unable to attend.
Our Basic Handgun Class is designed for the novice/beginner shooter. Our class is conducted in a low stress, laid-back atmosphere, and centers around the core prinicples of our beginner classes: 1.) Safety 2.) Learning 3.) Having fun!
 
Basic Handgun will start off briefly in the classroom, covering the following topics:
 
Safety Overview
 
Firearm Types and Nomenclature
 
Equipment Considerations
 
The class will then move to the range, where we will cover:
 
Range Safety Brief
 
Trigger Control
 
Grip
 
Sight Alignment and Sight Picture
 
Elements of the Draw
 
Drawing From the Holster
 
Basic Shooting Exercises
 
Accuracy Exercises
 
Reloading
 
Malfunctions and Remedial Action
 
Students will need to bring:
Quality Semi-Auto handgun or revolver. We will have a few loaner firearms available, but the student is responsible for providing ammunition (loaner weapons are 9mm). We will have some 9mm ammo for sale.
At least two spare magazines or speed loaders/moon clips, and the ability to retain them on your body.
At least 200 rounds of quality ammunition for the firearm you intend to shoot (the more, the better).
Holster, designed for the firearm that you are shooting, and a sturdy belt to attach it to. Belts MUST be worn through belt loops!
Weather-appropriate clothing (we shoot rain or shine).
Sunscreen, insect repellent, and method of hydration.
Eye and Ear protection.
Brimmed hat recommended, but not required.
Low cut shirts and open-toed shoes will not be permitted in the class.
This class meets the requirements in §18.2-308 of the Code of Virginia, for a Concealed Handgun Permit.
