August 2022 Meeting
Title: "Energy Resiliency and the Microgrid"
Presented by: Kent L. Hornsby, PE, C.E.M., LEED AP (BD+C) Principal Electrical Engineer at HCS Group
Synopsis:
In the program we will look at what exactly makes up a Microgrid, how it functions and operates to create a resilient energy platform incorporating renewable energy systems, as a distributed energy resource, and serve as an asset for savings fossil fuels.
Frequently used terms will be examined such as “All Green”, “Net Zero”, “Off-The-Grid” and others. The engineering definitions and implications will be discussed to better understand their impact on resiliency.
Example projects from Africa, Latin America and the USA will be reviewed as case studies in the presentation and how they were developed and modeled from the beginning in the design process.
