This full day course is aimed at primary leaders with responsibility for assessment in school.

Course Outline

This one day course will explore practical ways that school leaders can monitor and evaluate pupils progress through the full range of subjects, enabling the identification of gaps in learning and areas for development, but without resorting to numerous spreadsheets! It will focus on the pupils’ acquisition and application of knowledge. The latest inspection process will also be covered with up-to-date messages from the new framework and practice in schools that have been inspected recently. The day will also include a session on analysing IDSR and trends within ASP as a means to inform school improvement priorities and support the validity of other information.

The training will address the following:

  • Best practice in assessment: ideas from schools around the country.

  • What do schools really need to know and how can we help manage teacher workload in this area?

  • What do inspectors want to see and what questions might leaders be asked?

  • What does IDSR and ASP tell the school?

The benefits of attending this course:

  • It will provide you with useful strategies to support assessment across the curriculum

  • It will enable you to reflect on current practice and identify areas for development.

  • It will ensure you are well prepared for this aspect of an inspection.
