Tennessee’s Task Force on Student Testing and Assessment released its final report in September 2015. In response to recommendations from this report, CORE is excited to offer an opportunity for district teams to participate in a workshop focused on auditing the current assessments being administered within each district. Outlined below are the objectives, audience, and materials needed for this workshop. We hope you will join us in increasing our understanding of assessment and in determining which district assessments best fit the needs of our students. (CEO/TASL credit pending)
Participants will
- Review highlights of the assessment task force report.
- Understand the difference between formative and summative assessments.
- Develop a clear vision for what information is expected from the district suite of assessments.
- Audit the full suite of assessments administered within a district in order to make informed decisions about the future.
o What is the purpose of each assessment?
o What data do you get from each assessment?
o What does the data tell you?
o Who uses the data and how is it used?
o Is there duplication or gaps in the current assessments?
Who should attend? District teams of up to four people. Recommended team members could include superintendent, instructional supervisor(s), special education supervisor, data coach, or district-level instructional coach
What should the team bring?
- Information for all assessments that are in place for the 2016-17 school year and any other assessments the district is considering for the 2016-17 school year

o Administration details— – format, frequency, length, windows of administration
o Contract information— – expiration, cost (total and per student), funding source
- Computer - one for the team is sufficient.
