APALI's Youth Leadership Academy is a six-week class to expand vision, share, and build community. YLA is offered as an ICS 22 summer course at De Anza College which satisfies UC/IGTEC Area 4 and CSU Area D as an elective. Students must be at least an incoming junior or senior high school student in the Fall.
 

 

  • WORKSHOPS & ACTIVITIES that engages students to share stories related to identity, develop community awareness, and practice leadership skills.

 

  • PEER MENTORS to provide academic and personal support at a personal level to help students get the most out of the class.

 

  • INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY where students help to build a supportive community that is inclusive, safe, and transcends ethnic, socioeconomic class, gender, sexuality, and religious boundaries.

 

  • ALUMNI INVOLVEMENT to share academic and career experiences, and to be role models that provide inspiration and motivation.
