Monday June 29, 2020, 10:00-11:30 AM
Details
Artists are accustomed to living with uncertainty and trepidation... in fact, it is almost a prerequisite for accessing the “idea generator” that resides within us all. This hands-on workshop introduces the same techniques employed by artists that enable the transformation of anxiety into controlled, sustainable productivity through art.
Materials needed:
1.) A favorite poem or quote you admire.
2.) Any pencil, pen, crayon, etc. you feel most comfortable using.
3.) A few sheets of 8 1/ 2 x 11 copier paper.
4.) One baked potato.
(Please have the potato baking and ready to take out of the oven by a half hour after the start time of this workshop. You may also substitute a boiled mid-sized rock for the potato.)
Presenter:
Maureen Walsh, M.A. is a doctoral candidate at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. She has over twenty years experience working in the mental health field in a variety of settings. She began making art at the age of five, when her mother gave her an oil paint “pochade” kit. She has remained engaged and adventurously curious in a pursuit of nature’s life force and all of her gorgeous colors. Ms.Walsh has run art groups in schools, detention centers, mental health programs, “Plein Air” excursions and in private workshops. She is willing to share her experience and enthusiasm with all who have shown interest in exploring of their own creativity.
