In this event, we will showcase internal and external examples of good practice from within and outwith QMU. If you are already using ePortfolio, or new to the tool, this event will provide you with ideas from under/post graduate programmes in health, business, law. Susi and Dave from the CAP will also give an update on enhancements to the PebblePad system.
Preparation for practice and ePortfolio
Joanna Beveridge and Julie Caulfield
11.15am to 11.40 am
The occupational therapy practice placement team use EPortfolio workbook within their pre-registration programmes as part of preparation of placement. Students have many mandatory tasks to complete before each placement - this was previously presented in a large paper portfolio which was assessed at university and then taken on placement. This is now all done in an EPortfolio workbook with certificates being uploaded and dates of completion of task being entered.

Using ePortfolio for work placements, dissertation supervision, and skills building
Nicola Tully
12.45pm to 2pm
The Law Division at Abertay adopted PebblePad over seven years ago. Around 20 modules and co-curricular activities are now supported with PebblePad including work placements, dissertation supervision, and skills building. Nicola Tully, Teaching Fellow in Law and co-ordinator for work placements, will share her experiences of how the students’ experience has been enhanced and how assignments can be better managed using PebblePad. She will draw on her experiences of using ePortfolio to explore how learners can engage in reflection through the system, the benefits and the challenges.
ePortfolios and reflective writing
Judith Lane
2pm to 2.30pm
Judith Lane, a senior lecturer in Physiotherapy and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, teaches reflective practice across a range of healthcare programmes, using eportfolios to facilitate reflective writing. Assignments encourage students to reflect on module learning outcomes, and relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours. Creativity in presentation is emphasised, with many students presenting audio and visual reflections as well as written work. Eportfolio work prepares students for the expectations of continuing professional development within healthcare practice.
