WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

Saturday 17th November, 11am – 1pm,  Fluid and Strong

Going back to the core of Tribal Fusion – literally. We will work on training our muscles to attain the liquid effect of sinuous and fluid tribal fusion movements. Working on developing the core through Pilates-based conditioning and strengthening, we will drill some of the classics from the fluid repertoire of bellydance movements and finish off with a liquefied combination or two. Please bring a yoga mat for the conditioning section of class.

Saturday 17th November, 2pm – 4pm, A step in the right direction

A dance class focusing on fancy footwork and tremendous turns across the floor. Discover ways to move around the stage, while keeping hold of the isolations that keep it ‘bellydance’. No more drilling on the spot – we will take our bellydance technique and apply it to steps from Jazz, Hip Hop and Modern to create fusion vocabulary that gets you exploring the stage and interacting with the whole audience. Please bring a yoga or exercise mat for the warm up.

Sunday 18th November, 11am – 1pm , Step in the World of Unmata ITS

Hot Pot Improvisational Tribal Style (ITS) is a standardised vocabulary of improvised tribal, based on ATS, developed by Amy Sigil of UNMATA. Plenty of bad-ass attitude, heaps of fun and guaranteed to make you break a sweat. Think of it as the punk rock sister of bellydance. In this class you’ll get an ITS exposure – learn some stall movements and combos from the format and dance, dance, dance. Bring water, heaps of energy, a strong team spirit and be prepared to dance your heart out!

 Sunday 18th November, 2pm – 4pm , Folk It

We are going back to the future in this workshop. Unearthing the roots of our dance - drawing influence from Upper Egyptian and North African folk dances, Jamila Salimpour technique and straight up bellydance, combining them with contemporary Tribal Fusion approaches. Technique and drills followed by a short choreography blending the old and the new.

All levels welcome (some belly dance experience recommended)
