Mediumship and channeling have been recorded throughout human written history. The past 100 years has provided us with a wide variety of research and findings. Mediumship and channeling are more common than most might realize and, in general, imparts a positive benefit to those who practice them. Multiple studies have demonstrated the accuracy of mediumship to gain information that would otherwise not be available by conventional means. Further studies have evaluated the physiological effects during the mediumship and channeling state with mixed results. While the source of such information is still debated and will likely, the medium’s subjective understanding of the source of information can be explored. So too can the practical applications and benefits of mediumistic experiences for the practitioner and receiver.
Join us for this symposium to explore current mediumship and channeling research projects. Topics will include veracity studies, mediumistic writing analysis, semi-naturalistic methods in mediumship research, mediumship in children, and group channeling to answer scientific questions. There will be question and answer periods for each presentation and a panel discussion about the next steps in mediumship and channeling research.
The event will be held at Airmeet.com. It is recommended that attendees use Chrome on a desktop/laptop with a camera and microphone enabled for the best user experience.

The Parapsychological Association is an international professional organization of scientists and scholars engaged in the study of psi (or 'psychic') experiences, such as telepathy, clairvoyance, psychokinesis, psychic healing, and precognition. First established in 1957, the PA has been an affiliated organization of the American Association for the Advancement of Science since 1969. The mission of the PA is to: Promote scholarship and scientific inquiry into currently unexplained aspects of human experience. Disseminate responsible information to the wider public and to the scientific community. Integrate this information with knowledge from other disciplines.
Helané Wahbeh is the Director of Research at the Institute of Noetic Sciences and an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Wahbeh is clinically trained as a naturopathic physician and research trained with a Master of Clinical Research and two postdoctoral research fellowships. Her current research interests include healing stress and trauma, examining mind-body medicine’s mechanisms, and rigorously studying extended human capacities.
Graduated in Languages (Universidade Federal de São João del-Rei), Specialist in Portuguese Language (Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais), Master in Portuguese Language (Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais), Doctor in Linguistic Studies (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais) and Post-doctor in Spirituality and Health (Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora)
Arnaud Delorme, PhD, is a CNRS principal investigator in Toulouse, France, a member faculty at the University of California, San Diego, and a research scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences. He developed the free EEGLAB software for advanced analysis of EEG signals in collaboration with Scott Makeig, which is now among the most used in EEG research worldwide. He was awarded a Brettencourt-Schueller young investigator award and a 10-year anniversary ANT young investigator award for his contributions to EEG research.
Patrizio Tressoldi is an Italian psychologist and consciousness researcher leading the Science of Consciousness Research Group at the Studium Patavinum of University of Padova, Italy. He has a long term interest in psi phenomena and began experimentation in the early 2000s, exploring the presentiment response and making notable progress in developing new methodologies. More recently, he has designed novel experiments to investigate psychokinetic influences. He has also reviewed the presentiment and implicit precognition literature.

Former chair of the Section on Religion, Spirituality and Psychiatry of the World Psychiatric Association (2014-17 and 2017-2020). He obtained a medical degree at UFJF and was trained in psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry of the University of São Paulo, Brazil, where he also obtained his PhD in Health Sciences. Formerly a postdoctoral fellow in religion and health at Duke University.
PhD candidate (Social Psychology Graduate Programa - University of Sao Paulo) Bachelor in Psychology (Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo), MSc in Social Psychology (University of Sao Paulo- USP) and PhD candidate in Social Psychology (USP). Since childhood Mateus felt intrigued by mediumship, observing, and experiencing it sometimes. In psychology, he discovered a rich resource for studying parapsychological experiences. Currently, he has been dedicated to the research of altered states of consciousness, dissociation and mediumship, especially in childhood.
This session’s goals are to 1) briefly review mediumship and channeling research and 2) describe a study evaluating whether channeling can be used to obtain useful information about scientific questions.

Two Parts: The first paper describes and presents results of a semi-naturalistic methodological proposal combining ecological validity and control (of fraud or information leakage) to evaluate information produced in psychographed letters allegedly written by deceased people. The second paper investigates the occurrence of AIR in a mediumistic experiment using a controlled semi-naturalistic method that sought this balance. It presents two letters psychographed by two mediums to two sitters.
Associate Professor of Psychiatry

The aim of this study is to investigate the stylistic fit of literary texts under different genres produced by supposed spiritual authors, obtained while under mediumistic trance.
Doctor
This study allow for proper double and triple blinding experimental protocols offers the opportunity to verify if the information delivered by a medium is accurate; a suitable experimental design also provides the opportunity to measure physiological effects associated with retrieval or accurate information.
