Advanced Silver Techniques: Brooch Backs

Monday mornings 9:00 am to noon, 6 weeks.

It used to be such a common sight, ladies wore a pin or brooch to liven their outfit, make a statement or make people smile. Cowboys pinned attractive cabochon designs to their hats. Lapel pins were a way of denoting organizational membership and of course political causes have used various pins, badges and buttons to convey their messages. Madeline Albright used her pin collection as a form of non-verbal communication to hint at her mood or the subjects she was dealing with. Now brooches are enjoying a comeback! This class will explore the various mechanisms that can be used for pinning jewelry to clothing.

Classes are conducted by volunteer members of the Oxnard Gem & Mineral Society, under the the auspices of the City of Oxnard, Dept. of Recreation.
