Adult Sailing Program (Ages 18+)
This course is great opportunity to try sailing for the first time or jump on board again. Designed for the beginning sailor, the course seeks to provide active learning of the skills and knowledge needed to be a sailboat owner and pursue the lifelong enjoyment of sailing.

The course will be taught in Flying Scot class boats made possible in part through the support of the Flying Scot Foundation. Students will learn everything from launching and retrieving a boat on a trailer, to rigging, to departing and returning from a dock, to the most basic of sailing skills all while actually sailing the boat. Seamanship and safety are always stressed. Some classroom instruction will occur when necessary to clarify and build upon on the water experiences.

-The program runs 2 weeks (5 classes).
-Class size is limited to 8 students per course section.
-Class starts at 6 p.m. and ends around 8/8:30 p.m. for 4 classes.

-All Students are required to have a life jacket.

- In the event of a cancelation due to weather the class will be rescheduled the succeeding week on the first day of a normally scheduled session.

-The 5th class is a 'sail-along' on a Saturday morning starting at 9 a.m.  Students will sail with OSC club members on several different types of sailboats and have the opportunity to practice their skills as captain and crew.

Otsego Sailing Club

treasurer@otsegosailingclub.com

The Otsego Sailing Club, Inc., is a non-profit organization of sailboat owners who have mutual interests in sailing and sailboat racing. It was founded to encourage recreation and competitive sailing, to promote safety in sailing and all associated activities, and to promote good sportsmanship. The club traces its roots to the summer of 1961 when five families sailed together on Otsego Lake. That fall they organized the Otsego Sailing Club. By-laws were written and race and social programs organized. The support that the club received from Harry Cook was one of the key factors that assured its future. For several years he permitted the club to rent part of his land. He then sold to the club the property it now owns. We have prospered over the years because of the good will and cooperative spirit of our members. Membership includes obligations and responsibilities in order to ensure the continuance of the club.
