The New York State Department of Health, AIDS Institute, Office of Drug User Health in collaboration with Catholic Charities Project Safe Point and the Harm Reduction Coalition Present:

 

Addressing the Opioid Epidemic: Preventing and Reversing Overdose 

 

This presentation will review the needs for harm reduction tools and lifesaving interventions including naloxone and buprenorphine. 

 

By the end of this presentation participants will be able to:

•Define the current state of the opioid epidemic in New York State

•Recognize the symptoms of an opioid overdose 

•Administer naloxone to reverse an opioid overdose 

•Describe New York State’s Naloxone Co-payment Assistance Program (N-CAP)

•Review the difference between methadone and buprenorphine 

•Recognize how buprenorphine services can be integrated into different settings [i.e. clinical and non-clinical]
