AAUW February 2020 General Meeting

Celebrating the Centennial of the 19th Amendment:

The Fight for Women’s Suffrage

Dr. Amy Canfield, Professor of History and Gender and Women’s Studies at Lewis-Clark State College, will be our guest speaker.

Dr. Canfield, a presenter for the Idaho Humanities Council Speaker’s Bureau, has a genuine passion and expertise regarding the long journey toward Women’s Suffrage.

The Suffrage movement had strong ties to race issues in the United States. Dr. Canfield’s talk examines the history of the 19th Amendment within the larger backdrop of civil rights, exploring how race, class, and gender intersected in the fight for women’s rights.

In celebration of Susan B. Anthony’s February 15th, 1820, 200th birthday, there will be cake!

 Suffrage attire appropriate.

A social hour with a no-host bar will begin at 11:00 am upstairs in the North Star room.

Lunch will be served at 11:45 am.

Meal choices are available on the registration form.

Contact Stacy Urban (stacycurban@gmail.com) with dietary restrictions no later than Friday, February 7.
