Location:  RCSD County Office Room 101

Presenter: Lorie Yates (RCSD Science Specialist)

Description:  This is a half-day session that will focus on the layout of the new science framework for 8th Grade.  We will explore the three dimensions of the new framework (science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, and disciplinary core ideas) and learn how these dimensions work together. We will analyze a cross-walk that will show how the new standards align with the 2010 standards.  I will also provide a resource guide that will help 8th grade teachers prepare for the implementation of the new standards in 2018-2019.  We will explore some lessons/activities that match old and new standards and that can be implemented this coming school year.
