Location:  RCSD County Office Room 101

Presenter: Lorie Yates (RCSD Science Specialist)

Description:  This is a half-day session that will focus on the layout of the new science framework for 5th Grade.  We will explore the three dimensions of the new framework (science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, and disciplinary core ideas) and learn how these dimensions work together in an elementary science setting.  I will provide a cross-walk that will show how the new standards align with the 2010 standards.  I will also provide a resource guide that will help 5th grade teachers prepare for the implementation of the new standards in 2018-2019.  We will also explore Gizmos (how to use those in math and science) and other lessons/activities that will help in the transition from the old framework to the new.
