In the era of COVID-19, TeleMental Health has become an increasingly important way to interact with your clients.  This day long program is designed for those who are just starting a practice as well as for seasoned Clinicians. 

Taught by nationally renowned TeleMental Health expert, Patricia Spencer, LCSW, attendees will learn about current New Jersey laws, regulations, resources, and best practices around digital record-keeping and remaining HIPAA-compliant. 

The workshop will also cover how to communicate effectively and ethically online, navigate the complex and ever-evolving issues of boundaries with technology, and maintain clients’ confidentiality and safety. 

Course includes: 

2 hours self-study

1. Review Technology Standard

2. Review Code of Ethics 

3.  Research two states telehealth regulations 

Live instruction:

6 hours, plus 30 minutes for lunch and two 15 minute breaks

Curriculum includes: 

       Overview of technology and TeleMental Health

       TeleMental Health Laws/Regulations

       Designing and Delivering Services

       NASW, ASWB, CSWE Standards for Technology in Social Work

Pat Spencer, LCSW, MSW has 20+ years experience working in various settings including with Veterans, families and children and adults with serious mental illness. Currently, she has a private practice in central New Jersey providing intensive in community therapy to youth and their families, traditional office based psychotherapy and clinical supervision. She is trained in EMDR and Imago Relationship Therapy. Over her career, she has held various positions, including as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tunisia, as a case manager with PACT and ICMS, as a psychiatric screener in a local emergency room, as a supervisor with a CMO, and as a clinical supervisor in a call center serving military service members, Veterans and their families. In addition to clinical work, she has returned to her early academic career as a teacher. Pat has been a part time lecturer at the Rutgers School of Social Work, where she has taught a variety of graduate courses and has presented at various professional conferences and continuing education courses. Balance is the key to any successful longstanding career in social work. Pat finds the balance through her family, friends and hobbies. She is married; she enjoys travel, scuba diving, triathlon and cooking and baking.
