Come join the WPAFB Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight and bomb technicians from around the region on Saturday, 22 May 2021 to honor the 32 Air Force EOD technicians who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

To honor the fallen and raise awareness around the EOD Memorial and the mission of the EOD Warrior Foundation (EODWF), we will be hosting a 5K fun-run/walk event at E.J. Nutter Park in Beavercreek, OH (located in the Greater Dayton area - please see address above and/or map below).

Event Details

Start Time: 9:30am

The walk/run will take place on the morning of 22 May. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Whether you want to go for a leisurely stroll with the family, or you're testing out your time for competition, your participation is welcome effort towards a great cause. For participation, a minimum donation of $10 is politely requested. For $25 you will receive a limited production T-shirt on event day (see below for T-shirt details... limited quantities for sale at the event).  All proceeds from the event and from T-shirts will go directly to benefit the EOD Warrior Foundation and their mission (see below for more on the EODWF).

Weather: Race start will be postponed if lightning is within 10 nautical miles.

After-Party

Please feel free to join us Saturday afternoon after the event at Crooked Handle Brewing Co. in Springboro. The after-party begins will begin at 1:00 P.M. There will be a 50/50 Raffle. Half of the raffle earnings will be donated to the EOD Warrior Foundation. Crooked Handle will also be donating 100% of proceeds from a special event day brew, EXCLUSIVELY available on tap at the after-party.

EOD Memorial

The EOD Memorial, located on Eglin AFB, honors the fallen EOD Technicians of all four services. The EOD Memorial Ceremony takes place annually on the first Saturday of May, in conjunction with National Explosive Ordnance Disposal Day. The 52nd EOD Memorial Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 1st, beginning at 9:00 am CST/10:00 am EST. Those who wish to learn more about the EOD Memorial, view the Virtual Wall, or livestream the EOD Memorial on Saturday, 1 May may do so by navigating to www.eodwarriorfoundation.org.

EOD Warrior Foundation

The EOD Warrior Foundation was established through the March 1, 2013 merger of the EOD Memorial Foundation and the Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation and is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization.  Their focus is to serve the “EOD community by providing financial assistance and support to active-duty and veteran wounded, injured or ill EOD warriors, families of our wounded and fallen EOD warriors and by maintaining the EOD Memorial.”  For more information, see http://www.eodwarriorfoundation.org/about

I am aware that the “4th Annual EOD Memorial Dash” entails risks of injury or death to any participant.  I understand the description of these inherent risks is not complete and that other unknown or unanticipated inherent risks may result in injury or death.  I agree to assume and accept full responsibility for the inherent risks identified herein and those inherent risks not specifically identified.  My participation in this activity is purely voluntary, no one is forcing me to participate, and I elect to participate in spite of and with full knowledge of the inherent risks.

 

I acknowledge that engaging in this activity may require a degree of skill and knowledge different than other activities and that I have responsibilities as a participant.  I acknowledge that WPAFB EOD personnel has been available to more fully explain to me the nature and physical demands of this activity and the inherent risks, hazards, and dangers associated with this activity. I acknowledge that I have read information provided by WPAFB EOD that is related to the nature and physical demands of this activity and the inherent risks, hazards, and dangers associated with this activity.

 

I certify that I am fully capable of participating in this activity.  Therefore, I assume and accept full responsibility for myself, including all minor children in my care, custody, and control, for bodily injury, death or loss of personal property and expenses as a result of those inherent risks and dangers identified herein and those inherent risks and dangers not specifically identified, and as a result of my negligence in participating in this activity.

 

I have carefully read, clearly understood and accepted the terms and conditions stated herein and acknowledge that this agreement shall be effective and binding upon myself, my heirs, assigns, personal representative and estate and for all members of my family, including minor children."
