L. Scottie Urmey

“Scottie”, is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and a board-certified psychodrama trainer, educator, and practitioner (TEP). Adjunct professor at Monmouth University, frequent presenter at national conferences and currently serving as a board director for the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry, and Group Psychotherapy; Scottie is passionate about teaching a new generation of psychodramatists’. Having merged over 25 years of psychodrama experience with her background in creative arts therapies, psychology, and social work she is founder and director of Psychodrama New Jersey, a combined psychotherapy practice and training institute. Scottie uses psychodrama with adults, children, families and groups in her private practice currently but has experience using psychodrama along the clinical spectrum, including; inpatient, IOP, partial hospitalization, and community based settings. Along with a reputation as a uniquely skilled clinician and effective educator she has also earned the 2014 Alumni of the Year Award from Monmouth University School of Social Work (07’), 2014 Volunteer Award from the Mental Health Association of Monmouth County, and the 2016 ASGPP Collaborators Award for her long-time work with Ronald Collier, LCSW, TEP.
