Journey Into Sound and Free your Voice

Cost Only £35

A day of sound, music and gentle movement nurtured by Gill Gosling to help you tune into life

At The Exchange, Howard Street, North Shields

Learn to free your voice through breathing techniques and special ways of ‘sounding’ through your body using the beautiful sounds of voices, gongs, Himalayan singing bowls and other magical instruments.

Come and give your mind, body and spirit a treat in the run up to this busy festive season. Learn how to sing your own song of life.

This introductory one day workshop is a journey into using sound, musical instruments, gentle movement and dance, and your own voice.

No musical or singing experience is necessary. Everyone has a voice and everyone can ‘play’.

You will get hands on experience of using the ancient sacred Gong and a host of other fabulous instruments. Sample amazing deep sound baths immersing yourself in vibration, and learn how sound affects your life and how you can use it to uplift and totally tune in to your life’s destiny and full health.

You will work on vocal techniques that use simple vowel sounds, chakra sounds, pure tones and overtones. Gill will gently lead you into a deeper space where the group builds trust and works closely together for a deeply rewarding and wholeing experience. Tuning participants in to their inner realms. And it is fun.

The workshop uses the beautiful, moving and healing vibes of 12 Gongs, conch shells, Himalayan singing bowls, drums, tuning forks, flutes, harmonium, shruti box– combined with other musical instruments from around the world – plus singing and chanting.

Background

Gill believes with her heart that sound is medicine and everyone is the musician of their own life.  Just how we talk to someone has an effect on their being. But how are we talking and tuning in with ourselves?

What we are saying to ourselves is the key to unlocking our true meaning in life – to align with knowing the world of infinite possibilities. In doing this tuning in we then open our hearts to bring the life we want to us. This day will give you tools to use your own voice daily to help change your life.

There will be "gong baths" in which you can lay down in the sounds of the gong field (or sit in a chair or lie on a healing couch).

Gill takes her passion for the gong from the inspirational work and teachings of her teacher Grand Gongmaster Don Conreaux from New York who worked closely with Yogi Bhajan the founder of Kundalini Yoga.

Don Conreaux said: "Gong healing is a spiritualization and inner enlightenment which really expands a person's soul without a particular religious concept. Something that transcends. The role of the gong therapist is to bring transformational power to an individual."

The gong produces a whole spectrum of harmonics that are based on pressure waves. The gong sound vibrates the energy meridians in the body and brings them into balance. Kundalini energy, which begins at the base of the spine, is released, travelling upwards along the spine through the body. When this occurs our blockages along the nadis/meridians are unblocked.

Gong sound can be used to rebalance the physical, emotional and spiritual bodies. It is an excellent therapy for stress related issues, depression, fatigue, anger and hostility, feeling of separation and loneliness, and all kinds of fears along with many other conditions related to lack of balance and harmony in the body.

Don Conreaux, who  helped set up the World Peace Bell project and has worked with the United Nations for Peace, says: "During the gong experience, we are completely awake while completely asleep.... a meditative state, what I call the 4th dimensional dreambody. In this state, which is also known as the completely neutral yogic state of "Turiya," we greatly increase the re-youthing efficiency of our innate intelligence that operates 24 hours a day. After a gong tone immersion, when the personal ego returns to material consciousness, one seems better able to attain a condition of non-judgment or neutrality, the quality of total body/mind harmony. I believe the gong experience improves our spiritual "quality of life" because it imprints the deep sound immersion event with special significance. It is in this mystical mood that we become a vessel for spontaneous creative thought and meaningful insight.”

What is Toning?

Toning is the creation of extended vocal sounds on a single vowel in order to physically and spiritually experience the power of human voice and its amazing effects.

No melody, no words, no rhythm, and no harmony - just the sound of the vibrating breath. It is a simple yet powerful technique, accessible to everyone regardless of vocal ability or training. Through toning you can immediately experience the effects of sound on your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Sound alters brainwaves and our consciousness and has been used throughout history and beyond by Shaman, Monks, Priests, Native Americans, Aborigines, the ancient Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians alike. When we become 'ill' it is because our body has stopped resonating harmoniously, there is dissonance and the ease becomes dis-ease - like an instrument that is out of tune. By introducing resonant sounds to the body we can restore balance and harmony.

The focus is on the participants and brings connection and healing. You will also receive your own individual sound bath during the day.
