We invite you to support the 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Oratorical Competition, sponsored by the Ira Dorsey Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc. (IDSEF) and the Prince William County Xi Alpha Lambda (XAL) Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  

 

Competitors will present their speeches describing two to three like experiences that define them and explain how each influenced their worldview and outlook for the future. Additionally, competitors will speak about the lessons they have learned that will beneficial for those who follow in their footsteps.


The event will be held at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, 7920 Jones Branch Drive, McLean, VA 22102. Parking is free.

The Ira Dorsey Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc. (IDSEF) is a nonprofit that operates exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. More specifically, the purpose of the IDSEF is to provide scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students. The IDSEF was founded by the Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. It was incorporated on June 9, 1994. Over the years the IDSEF has awarded more than $300,000 to more than 200 students. In addition to sponsoring several activities throughout the year to fund its scholarships, the IDSEF solicits and receives funds from individuals, corporations and other philanthropic organizations.
