The OrthoNebraska Symposium strives to provide the most relevant and up-to-date education on current research, patient cases, surgical & rehabilitation techniques in the orthopaedic and sports medicine fields. Supported by a faculty of fellowship-trained orthopaedic and sports medicine providers, we aim to provide regional athletic trainers, physical therapists, nurses, advanced practice providers and medical physicians with ample quality educational opportunities.

Dr. Bruggeman’s practice is focused on hand, elbow and shoulder conditions and Worker’s Compensation cases. He treats some of the most difficult injuries in the region as one of the only Level 1 trauma providers in the area, treating major orthopedic injuries of all kinds at Nebraska Medicine. He sees many second opinion cases and helps train tomorrow’s doctors, nurses and more. Sports medicine has been a big part of Dr. Bruggeman’s practice as well, serving as the team physician for multiple sports teams.

With OrthoNebraska since 1998, Brian has focused his career on caring for patients before and after total hip and knee replacements and works with Dr. Bryan Bredthauer. Brian began his career teaching CPR and first aid for the American Red Cross. He received his EMT-A license and became a student athletic trainer for the University of Nebraska at Omaha while getting his undergraduate degree. He did his physician assistant training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Brian helps do sideline coverage for high school football and also works at OrthoNebraska’s Orthopedic Urgent Care.

Before moving to Omaha, Dom worked at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center. He provided therapy services for OSU athletes, including care and sideline coverage for the rugby teams.

Dr. Caze completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology from University of Nebraska-Lincoln earning a concentration in sports neuropsychology. During his time there he was embedded in sports medicine conducting research in Sports-related Concussion along with providing clinical services. He completed his residency in adult neuropsychology at UCLA Semel Institute. He recently completed his fellowship at Children's Health Orthopedic James Andrews institute in Sports Neuropsychology. He currently lives in Omaha, NE and opened up Caze Concussion Institute in March 2022. As a researcher Dr. Caze received the 2020 Sports Neuropsychology Society dissertation award, the 2021 Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine Society most promising career award, and co-authored the poster of the 2021 SNS poster award. He is also the first to author a paper on tele-concussion.

Dr. Matthew Dilisio joined OrthoNebraska in 2021 as a Harvard fellowship-trained shoulder and elbow surgeon. Prior to that, he practiced at Creighton University and CHI Health in Omaha since 2014. Dr. Dilisio is an expert in using minimally invasive surgery to treat shoulder and elbow problems such as rotator cuff tears, labral tears, and fractures/dislocations. He also has particular expertise in treating shoulder arthritis with joint replacement, reverse shoulder replacement, and a variety of other cutting-edge techniques.

Dr. Rob Zatechka is a board certified anesthesiologist who has been practicing at OrthoNebraska since 2010. A Lincoln native and 1994 UNL alum, he attended medical school at The University of Nebraska Medical Center, graduating in 2004. He completed his residency in 2008 with an emphasis in anesthesia for organ transplantation and regional anesthesia. Dr. Zatechka stayed on at Nebraska Medicine as an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology for two years prior to taking a position at OrthoNebraska as staff anesthesiologist. As an anesthesiologist, Dr. Robert Zatechka can be found in the hospital ORs keeping our surgery patients safe and helping to reduce their pain.
