The 2022 NASW Iowa Symposium is excited to return to in person for this year's conference. 

This year's theme is "Restorative Justice" and Our keynote is Dr. Kesho Scott, an internationally renowned Diversity Trainer/Consultant, an Associate Professor of American Studies and Sociology at Grinnell College, and an award-winning writer. Dr. Scott will present on Friday, October 21, 2022.

She received my Bachelors in Communication Studies from Iowa State University (go Cyclones!) and her Master’s in Adult in Higher Education with an emphasis in Student Affairs from Northern Illinois University. Brittany is originally from Des Moines, IA. Brittany experienced foster care as a youth and that experience is why she became a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). She has served as a CASA for 3 years. Additionally, Brittany created a scholarship (Harrell Foster Care Scholarship) for black girls who have been foster care to help them pursue higher education. In her free time you can catch her spending time with family, going on walks, and watching movies. Brittany shares that her husband is her greatest support and together they have three beautiful and energetic daughters.

Kimberlee actively serves in various roles at the university, including faculty advisor for the Black Student Union, chair of the Assessment and Program Review Committee, and Faculty Liaison for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. Kimberlee remains active in the community by servicing as the Professional Development Coordinator and chair of diversity committee for the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). She also supports the Local College Aid Network (LCAN) by providing oversite and facilitation around opportunities to ensure DEI remain at the forefront of the work as it relates to system involved youth.
