League of Legends Head Coach
St. Lawrence University

From his time as a collegiate soccer player and volunteer soccer coach at St. Lawrence, Eric Shinnick brings experience in a competitive team environment based largely in traditional sport. He started his gaming career in FPS titles such as Counter Strike, TFC, and Half Life as a kid and began branching out into any competitive title that merged his love of traditional sport with the competition provided by games such as FIFA, NBA 2K, and Madden NFL Football. Fascinated by the in-game applications of principals such as tradeoffs, decision-making under pressure, and allocation of constrained resources, Eric picked up League of Legends as a hobby after college. Combining experiences from traditional sport, a professional background in quantitative analysis and decision making, and competition in esports, Eric is excited at the opportunity to mentor and create a space on campus for non-traditional athletes to express their competitive nature at highest levels of collegiate play.

"There is always a solution." This is the most important thing I've learned in more than 20 years of internet entrepreneurship, and it's as true today as ever. For example: In 2009, it was clear that the internet was getting too slow for serious gaming, so we created plug-and-play networking for gamers. I think of our technology as the Waze app for navigating the internet, and it makes games faster so gamers can have more fun. WTFast is a slick, elegant solution. Our game launcher is a proxy client that customers download and install on their computers. The game launcher connects them to an optimized network, and then we inject our expert networking into the system to enable real-time expert optimization. The result is a plug-and-play networking solution with outstanding results. The next level of technology we will soon be offering is equalized connections. Not only optimizing connections but providing gamers with the same ping on the network. No longer will there be unfair ping advantages between players. This will ensure true skills-based competitions.
