Tulare Western Track and Field Program is proud to host its 5th annual Central California Track and Field Clinic on January 18, 2020 on the campus of Tulare Western High School.

This year’s clinic will feature some of the best high school coaches in the central valley as well as across the state. y key note speaker and presenter this year will be Latif Thomas. Latif is the President and CEO of Complete Track and Field, LLC website as well as one of the best High school coaches in the state of Massachusetts. With his business motto being “fully committed to coaching coaches” Latif is one of the most sought-after clinicians in the United States today. Joining Latif will be Keinan Briggs Professional Sports Consultant

As an athlete, coach, and mentor Keinan Briggs has provided a new innovative way to coaching. With over 1,000 videos on YouTube he has become a dominant voice in teaching and mentoring athletes and coaches. Over the past 16 years in the industry Briggs has applied his experience as a professional triple jumper to help navigate athletes and coaches to success on and off the track. Briggs is the head jumps coach at Mater Dei high school and the creator of the LEAP Squad Youth Track Club which are both Nationally recognized programs. Briggs has worked with thousands of athletes send numerous on to the college level to continue their athletic career.As a collegiate athlete Briggs was a National hurdler and triple jumper at Cal State Los Angeles. As a professional triple jumper Briggs finished 13th in the USA 2010 and 6th overall 2011.

 

J. T Ayers is a 2-time Orange County Track Coach of the Year (2013, 2016) and has been coaching Track and Field for 14 years. Coach Ayers led his team at Orange Lutheran High School to its first CIF Division 3 Championship in 2013. After that, he took over at his Alma Mater, Trabuco Hills High School, as Head Coach of the boy's team in 2014. Since then, his athletes have broken 31-grade level and 8 school records, 3 All-Time Orange County Records, and the team has been ranked #1 in Orange County 3 different years (2015, 2016, 2018). Previously, in 2010, Coach Ayers took over Sprints and Hurdles at Redwood High School in Visalia. His team ran the 3rd fastest Sprint Medley in the Nation, were WYL Champions, Area Meet Champions, and Runner's up in Valley Finals. This past season, at Trabuco, the Boys 4x100 team placed 4th at the CA State Finals and ran the 2nd fastest 4x100 mark in Orange County History (the fastest was run by Trabuco the previous year at 41.24). The Boys 4x400 team also placed 4th at the CA State Finals, running a new school record and 7th fastest 4x400 mark in OC History

Coach Kent Pagel is no stranger to the Central Valley. He was Head Women’s Track & Field Coach at Fresno City College, where he also developed such valley stars as Nate Moses, Willy Irwin and KP Singh as throwing coach for both men and women. During this time his wife, four-time US Olympian and American Record Holder in the Shot, Ramona Pagel, was coaching at Fresno State, where Kent earned his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology. He is currently Head Coach for the US Navy Wounded Warrior Program, specializing in Powerlifting and Field Events. Along the way in the past 45 years, Pagel coached at Cal State Long Beach, San Diego Mesa College, Kent State, LSU and UC Riverside. He also currently coaches at Corona Del Mar High School. He has developed 36 NCAA DI All-Americans and four NCAA DI Champions, six US Olympians and American Record Holders in Shot Put and Javelin. He also developed four-time California State HS Champion Stamatia Scarvelis at Dos Pueblos HS while working for the Navy. Pagel threw Shotput and Discus at UCLA with pr’s of 62’11” and 181’11”, and he and Ramona celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary two weeks ago.

C.J Albertson Head coach clovis community college.  Coach Albertson is one of the finest distance runners and coaches to ever come of the central valley.  He was an olympics trial qualifer as well as indoor Marathon world record holder.  A buchanan high school alumnis and Arizona State graduate coach Albertson brings a world of knowledge to the clinic.  

Dr. Martin Palavicini:  In his three seasons as the multi events coach at Fresno State his group achieved two NCAA All-American honors, 4 individual Conference Championships and rewrote the school list. Coach P. had an excellent record as a high school coach at Clovis West. He has led his athletes to 9 age-group National championships and 17 runner-up finishes as well as 5 State medalists and 32 State qualifiers. His girls team won the Nike Track Nationals in 2008 and was 3rd in 2011. Six of his athletes competed at International meets as members of their National teams and two of them went to compete at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016. 49 of his HS athletes went to compete at four-year colleges with 36 of them at the NCAA Division 1 level. He has also been on the National team’s coaching staff for USA (IAAF U18 World Championships 2013 Donetsk, Ukraine - Pan Am Combined Events Cup 2017 Ottawa, Canada  - Thorpe Cup 2019 Bernhausen, Germany - U20 Pan Am Championships 2019 San Jose, Costa Rica), Nigeria (IAAF U20 World Championships 2012 Barcelona, Spain) and the Dominican Republic (Central American and Caribbean Championships 2012 San Salvador, El Salvador). Palavicini holds USATF level 3 and IAAF level 5 elite coach certification in the jumps & combined events, and he serves as the coaches advisory chair for USATF Central California.

Cole Sprague Shot put and discus coach at College of the Sequios. Cole has coached at Redwood High school and Sanger High School.
