CURRICULUM

Day One: Concept Development/Inspiration

Students will select end use applications, which may include: home furnishings, sneakers, athletic apparel, automotive interiors, couture fashion, etc.; they will engage in color and trend research.  This work will set the tone for each student's individual design throughout the workshop.

       

Day Two:  Sketchbook and Portfolio Development

Students will continue the development of his/her inspiration through drawing, collaging, research tear sheets - all while exploring pattern and texture.

Day Three:  Photoshop and Illustrator for Design

Students will be introduced to digital tool for Textile Design.

Day Four:  Drawing/Print, Design and Development

Students will design a graphic image inspired by their concept/inspiration and created through actual print design.

Day Five:  Woven Design and Development

Students will create a range of woven textiles that capture the tactile qualities of their concept.

Day Six:  Knit Design and Development/WRAP UP

Students will develop knitted textiles using the color and luster of their concept.

(They will be able to differentiate between print design, knit design and woven design and the respective applications and uses of each core.)

*NOTE:  On Thursday, September 27, 2018, Textile Hive, which is the largest, fully digitized collection of textiles IN THE WORLD, will be on campus to share its experiences with the Jefferson-Philadelphia University students; the students enrolled in this Totall Envolvement class have been invited to participate.  Consequently, this day will end at 2 p.m. instead of 1 p.m.
