The Cinderella Pageant is divided into age divisions from newborn to 26 years old. Girls at the preliminary level compete in party wear, casual wear, talent (ages 7-17) or on-stage interview (ages 3-6), and photogenic. All participants are interviewed by the judges prior to the on-stage competition. This gives the judges an opportunity to get to know the girls and see how well they communicate. This is not an intelligence test, rather it is a chance for the girls to show the judges who they are and what they enjoy doing in their spare time. Questions vary based on age divisions. Cinderella Tot, Mini Miss and Miss contestants will be interviewed in groups of 5 and Teen & Woman contestants interview one-on-one with each judge.
Casual Wear: Casual wear is a “dressy” casual outfit. This includes shorts, pants, skirts or a casual dress - NO SWIMSUITS OR COSTUMES. During Casual Wear, each contestant will introduce herself at the microphone giving her name, age and hometown. We follow a very simple modeling routine, ensuring each participant has the same amount of time onstage. Routines, waving, blowing kisses, etc. are not appropriate for this type of pageant.
Partywear Modeling: Teen Division (13-17 years) wear full length formal gowns. Girls age 12 and under should wear a simple Easter or church type dress, no longer than the knee. Full length "pageant dresses" are not appropriate for Cinderella's children age divisions. Modeling is simple and taught during a free workshop held onstage before the pageant.
Talent (ages 7+): Talent Presentations examples: Dancing, Ventriloquism, Singing, Twirling, Karate, Tumbling, Cheer Dances, Monologues, Instruments (not provided), etc. Talent music must be recorded on a CD and be the only song on that CD. Max time: 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
Tot Personality (ages 3-6): Instead of performing a talent, the 3-6 age division take part in a short onstage interview with the MC. An additional outfit is not required, the contestant will wear her party dress during the interview.
Interview / Baby Playtime: Cinderella uses a “closed” group interview with the judges, contestants wearing simple, tailored dresses or skirts/jackets. Babies (0-2 yrs) will instead have playtime (dress is casual) with the judges and are allowed to bring one toy of their choice.
Photogenic: At check-in on pageant day, participants will turn in one picture (head and shoulders) that shows their photogenic qualities. Photos can be any size up to 8x10 – name and age should be labeled on back. Don't worry if you don't have the "right" photo for your first preliminary pageant. These pictures will be returned after crowning.
