Novotel London West, 1 Shortlands, London, UK, W6 8DR, United Kingdom.

Having great software is the first step in learning to build good courses. But you also need to know what to do with that software. That’s why we’re bringing the best of the world’s #1 e-learning community to London for two days of practical tips, inspirational examples, free downloads, and expert advice.

This will be a fun, friendly extension of our E-Learning Heroes community. And we’re inviting you to bring your laptop to get some hands-on experience working along with Tom Kuhlmann, David Anderson, and Nicola Appel, as well as other great Articulate users.

EVENT DETAILS

  • Date: November 13 & 14
  • Time: 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Registration starts at 9:00 AM on both days.
  • Location:  Novotel Bordeaux Room, Hammersmith International Ctre, 1 Shortlands, London W6 8DR, UK

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

The sessions are intended for Articulate users, but anyone is welcome to join, as many of the sessions have general application regardless of the software. Here's who usually attends:

  • Subject matter experts who build rapid e-learning courses
  • Trainers transitioning to e-learning
  • Instructional designers
  • E-learning designers & developers

WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

  • This is not a sales event. It's a training workshop.
  • Learn how to save time and money with more efficient development
  • Take your courses past the standard click & read model
  • Create interactive & engaging courses
  • Lots of post-conference resources including tutorials & templates

AGENDA

This is a two-day event. We like to break course design into three core buckets: content, look & feel, and interactivity. The first day’s topics are designed around those three areas. They are a combination of some presentation with hands-on activities.

DAY 1*

  • PowerPoint Power Tips
  • How to Build Effective Animations & Transitions
  • Visual Design Tips & Tricks
  • Make Boring Content More Interesting
  • Help Your Subject Matter Expert Help You
  • Super Hero Production Tips
  • Ideas for More Engaging Software Simulations
  • Rise Production Tips
  • Apply These Gamification Elements to Your E-Learning

*Session topics subject to change.

DAY 2

This part of the workshop is built around a series of challenge activities where we'll present some common course design challenges for you to think through and then prototype some solutions. This helps us discover and discuss different production tips and tricks. And it's flexible for both beginners and more advanced users.

Here are three big areas of focus:

  • Transform your bullet points and static information into engaging, interactive content
  • Move past the same old interactions and find a fresh way to approach your course design
  • Convert your course interactions into re-usable templates

Frequently Asked Questions

My credit card doesn't work.

If you have problems paying for the event, contact me. The event is set up to process credit cards. However, if the credit card options don't work, we can do a bank transfer. If we do a bank transfer you need to be aware of these limitations:

  • Contact me to request a bank transfer.
  • A ticket will not be issued until the transfer is complete and confirmed.
  • It is possible that the event is sold out prior to issuing a ticket, regardless of payment. In that case, a refund will be issued.

What should I wear?

We try to keep things relaxed and encourage casual attire. No need to dress business casual. Jeans are fine.

Should I bring my laptop?

Bring your laptop with the Articulate software installed. Most sessions will assume that you’re using at least Storyline 2. Files and templates will be in Storyline 2 (since they also work with Storyline 360 and Storyline 3).

You can always download a trial version of the software to follow along with the Articulate-specific activities. And if you just want to sit and observe without doing activities that is also OK, but you’ll have more fun participating.

Is this a training workshop for beginners?

The sessions are flexible for both beginners and more advanced users. But it is assumed you have some experience using the software as it is NOT a getting-started training program. You should have familiarity with the basic authoring in Storyline. We recommend going through some of the getting-started activities & tutorials in the community. Here are your options if you do need a beginner-level training program.

Can I get help with my own project?

We are always around to look at your work and answer questions throughout the day.

Is Internet provided?

We try to provide Internet service when available, however, for the workshop it is not required. Often the wifi connections are spotty so we assume no Internet and if it's working, that's a bonus.

Is lunch provided?

Yes. For this event, lunch is provided. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch if you have special dietary needs.

Cancellation policy

100% refund if cancelled prior to one week of the event. No refunds within one week.
