The Boundary and Annexation Survey is conducted each year to collect changes to legal boundaries, names, and governmental statuses. The State of Arkansas now responds on behalf of all non-tribal governments effective with the 2017 BAS. The Census Bureau uses boundary data to tabulate statistical data for the decennial and economic censuses as well as annual surveys, such as the American Community Survey (ACS). The Local Update of Census Addresses Operation (LUCA) is the only opportunity prior to the 2020 Census for tribal, state, and local governments to review and update the U.S. Census Bureau’s residential address list for their jurisdiction. The Census Bureau relies on a complete and accurate address list to reach every living quarters and associated population for inclusion in the Census. Section 1: This part of the workshop will introduce use of Microsoft Excel and Access to get the data ready to be consumed by ArcGIS Maps for Office, how to standardize and separate fields using excel and access queries and converting attributes into specific data type to reduce errors while mapping. Section 2: In this part we will over the installation process of ArcGIS Maps for Office and learn how to create and edit maps including basic analysis using ArcGIS Online/Portal and share them with other users as maps or as a service on ArcGIS Online. What is it, how can I use it, what are the benefits of having it. NWARPC, Fugro Geospatial, Inc., FTN Associates, Ltd., Crafton Tull, and others will provide the specs of the LiDAR that you will have, software that can use it and how, and much more. They will share with you how local, state and federal agencies are already putting some of the data to use. They will share how they have created products from the data like DEM’s, DTM’s, contours, depth grids, surface grids, flood data, transportation data, etc. They will share 3-D perspective analysis, floodplain mapping, vegetation mapping, slope analysis, transportation engineering, etc. This is primarily a demonstration session. There may be some hands-on experience.
Instructor: Malcolm Williamson Abstract: Do you need extremely high-resolution imagery for a project, or perhaps just newer imagery to capture recent changes in the landscape? Grab a $1500 drone, a $3500 software package, and some ground control, and you're in business! This workshop will cover the basics of using multi-rotor and fixed-wing small drones to collect imagery, and then walk you through the use of Agisoft PhotoScan Professional Edition to create both a 3d model and a georeferenced orthomosaic. Instructor: Robyn Lane, GIS Educational Specialist - CAST Abstract: ModelBuilder is an easy-to-use, visual programming interface built into ArcGIS that allows users to create, view, and edit custom GIS models/tools. There are a number of advantages to developing reusable ArcGIS tools with ModelBuilder, including the ability to view, organize, and document entire geoprocessing workflows, to streamline repetitive processes, and to share methods with others. This half-day workshop will cover beginner to intermediate ModelBuilder topics, including creating and running a basic model, setting model parameters for tool creation, managing intermediate data, using inline variables and ‘model only’ tools, setting preconditions, as well as saving and sharing a model/tool. The Arkansas GIS Users Forum is a group of geospatial professionals that work to develop, publish, distribute and use geospatial information to help you get where you are going, know where you have been, or know what’s happening around you. Our members come from a variety federal, state, county and local governments, as well as private and nonprofit organizations. Some of us work daily to ensure that emergency services find the fastest route when you call 911, others route pipelines and utilities to avoid damaging your property, we can even determine where to build a new fire station to provide the best service. Others use GIS less frequently or with less dire consequences, but we all use this very valuable tool to add a spatial component to our work. So the next time you go online to look up an address and search for a nearby business or even when you unfold an Arkansas Highway Map from the AHTD... remember you've used products generated by our members.
