Social justice is one of our profession’s core values and we are called to address the injustice of structural racism. In this workshop, we will deconstruct whiteness and understand white privilege, fragility, and racial identity development. Participants will engage in introspection and learn strategies to work toward being antiracist.
Learning Objectives:
1. To gain an understanding of whiteness, white privilege, white fragility, and white silence and how they contribute to and maintain systemic racism.
2. To engage in deep reflection and introspection in order to increase self-awareness related to race, improve one’s ability to sit with discomfort, and to identify one's current stage of racial identity development.
3. To learn strategies for effectively discussing and confronting racism, white privilege, and unconscious bias at the individual level and in the organizations in which one works.
