2 Clinical CE credits
This advanced clinical workshop will explore engagement, rapport building, assessment, and psychoeducation with children through play and art based activities. We will review the concepts of attunement, attachment, co-regulation and the therapeutic relationship. The majority of the workshop will focus on play-based engagement, rapport building, and assessment techniques for children. Variations of techniques appropriate for in-person, remote therapy, group work, and family work will be discussed, and some activities will be explored experientially.

Crystal Zelman, owner and clinician of Morris County Play Therapy, is a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, utilizing play therapy in her work with children, families and adults. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Child Life Specialist. She has a playful and inviting spirit, greeting new clients with an open heart, helping them to feel comfortable and welcome. Crystal consciously chooses to be client-centered, whenever possible, allowing children and adults to lead and guide their work together through play, therapeutic art, sand tray, or words. She believes empowering parents to feel confident practicing strategies they can use at home with their children is important. Crystal has a passion for supporting children and adults in their journey through grief. She received her Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University and is currently a Part-Time Lecturer at Rutgers University, teaching clinical social work classes to masters level students.
