The mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio is to operate charitable facilities which provide safe temporary living accommodations for critically ill and injured children and their families while receiving medical treatment in the San Antonio, Texas area.  The intent is to provide a home where families in similar circumstances can interact and lend and receive mutual support. 

 A Ronald McDonald House is a temporary home where the families of children being treated for serious illnesses or trauma reside while the child receives treatment at a nearby medical facility.  Additionally, it serves as a place where children who are receiving outpatient treatment are able to spend time with their families in a warm and cheerful environment.

 San Antonio is one of only a few cities with three homes.  Our first home is located near the downtown area, our second home is located in the Medical Center and our third home is in downtown San Antonio at Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. We broke ground on House #4 on December 2nd, 2015, and will soon operate 4 homes. Our newest home will be a 26,040 square foot home with a 5-suite transplant wing. These houses are open and staffed 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition, we operate two family rooms in Laredo, Texas, in two different hospitals, and we are currently looking into opening family rooms in other local hospitals in San Antonio.
