ALAVIC Dinner Event Venue, South Yarra Location, South Yarra, Victoria, 3141, Australia.

31 October (Tuesday) 7:30pm "100 Years Beersheba & Burger Night”

On this very day 100 years ago, Australian soldiers of the 4th Light Horse Regiment, mainly from Victoria, charged heavily defended Turkish positions and took the town of Beersheba. Beersheba (or Be’er Shiva) lies in Israel, 70 Km SSW of Jerusalem and 40 Km west of Gaza.  The daring action of the young Australians marked the beginning of the end for the Ottoman Empire, the fall of the Caliphate and set the stage for the formation of the State of Israel 30 years later.

We will have a brief presentation, followed by the historical feature movie “The Lighthorsemen”, while enjoying our special Beersheba Burger* with Israeli Salad, Wedges and Humus, included in the $16 ticket.

Open to members, reg'd supporters and their family and friends.

*Veggie Beersheba Burger on request
