Join NASW-DE and Sharsheret for a training webinar about the importance of culturally competent care for our patients. Not simply the politically correct thing to do, or something kind during a difficult time, this type of care has a proven impact on survivorship. We’ll explore the issues through the example of Jewish women facing breast cancer. The training includes topics such as the diversity of the Jewish community, increased hereditary risk for Jewish women, and cultural, religious and spiritual issues that may impact detection, treatment or survivorship. Woven throughout the presentation will be examples of how this information is relevant to many other communities. Participants will also learn about the free resources Sharsheret can provide to all breast and ovarian cancer patients.
• Participants will understand the impact of culturally competent care for women facing cancer.
• Participants will identify resources for their work with women facing breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
• Participants will understand the diversity of the Jewish community culturally and religiously.
• Participants will understand the impact of a breast cancer or ovarian cancer on a Jewish woman and her family.
